| WOO HOO FINALS ARE OVER!!!! Overall, I think that they went pretty well too, so I'm happy about that. I am packing up right now and heading for home tonight (or maybe tomorrow morning). I'll try to update this whenever I get the chance over the summer, but I'm not sure how often that will be. I'd love to say more, but I gotta get a going on this moving thing. Have a great summer everyone! | | |
| - Ok, so once again it has been a while since I've gotten around to updating this. I guess that you guys will just have to get used to the fact that I'm not the best at keeping on top of this.
With that disclaimer out of the way, the past week or so really hasn't been the greatest for me for a couple of reasons, the gist of which I'll give you, but not in too much detail. Last weekend I left SB on Thursday night to go home. I drove my friend Lauren down to LA. We had a fun time talking and sharing stories, so the drive went by pretty quickly. I got to spend a lot of time over the weekend with my good friend Jessica who I don't get to see very often because she lives in San Diego now. She decided to come home for a week, and for once it actually coincided with the weekend that I was home, so I was very happy about that. We went out for martinis Thursday night when I got in, her parents took us to dinner on Friday night, and we went to see 13 Going On 30 up at the little theater in Blue Jay. It was pretty funny and just a fun movie to watch in general. I have been wanting to see it for quite a while, so I was really excited that she wanted to go see it as well. I worked all day Saturday and until 4 on Sunday. It wasn't a very busy weekend, so work wasn't too hectic. Joe, my manager, and I went to Casa Coyotes after work on Saturday for dinner and drinks. It was a lot of fun, but let me just say that I'm very glad that Joe was treating for my birthday because drinks add up quite quickly as we found out when the bill came! Thanks again Joe! I saw Trevor for a little while on Friday, and he basically told me that he can't handle our relationship right now. (So yeah... there's the gist). He is a really great guy and I would like very much for us to be able to remain friends.
This past week at school was pretty uneventful... just the same old drill of classes Tuesday through Thursday. I went downtown Thursday night with Anna, Amanda, Abby and JR. We went to 634 and Madission's and had a ton of fun dancing and hanging out together! JR and Abby drove which was a nice change because I didn't have abstain from drinking to be able to drive back. We had a pretty interesting episode when we stopped and Jack-In-The-Box on the way back. We almost got into a fight with some people from a car behind us who had the bright idea to walk up to the order box and try to order, and of course Abby had some pretty colorful things to say to them... I'm just happy that she would have been able to finish it cuz god knows the rest of us probably wouldn't have! On Friday I hung out with Ben for a little while. We went to CPK for dinner and got to catch up on things, so that was nice. I saw my sister and the family yesterday. They are camping this weekend up at Rancho Oso which is about half an hour from here, so I decided to drive out there for a quick visit. I'm glad I did because it was really nice seeing them and the drive out there was quite relaxing.
In two weeks school will be over and I'll be home for the summer. While I'm looking very forward to the break from classes and everything, I have a lot to do to be ready for finals in a week and I just don't to seem to have a lot of motivation for it right now...I think it's that damn "end of the year and I'm really just kinda over it" thing. Unfortunately, that mind set isn't too conducive to the kind of grades I want to end up wtih it, so I really gotta start buckeling down and studying my butt off pretty soon. Fun fun! On that note it's time to quit playing online and try to get some stuff done! Good luck with everything everyone!
| - - - - I am really tired of reading about media policy and family communication, so I decided to procrastinate for a little while and update this. It's been a while... so what's new? Hmmm.... I went home for Mother's Day weekend. My mom didn't know that I was going to be home, so I surprised her with take-out from El Burrito, one of our favorite restaurants, and a copy of Something's Gotta Give on DVD because she has been wanting to see that for quite a while now. Not a whole lot, but since my mom didn't feel like going out anywhere dinner and a movie at home worked out pretty well. We actually had the best visit that we have had in a long time, so hopefully things are beginning to smooth out... I hope, I hope!
Since then it has just pretty much been school as usual. My last final is on the 10th of June... so about four more weeks and I'm outta here! Unfortunates, one annoying reserach paper and finals stand in they way. By the way... ambigous asignments and stubborn TA's who are of little or no help really suck. Yes, I'm bitter about this, espically when it's worth 30% of a grade! We still have a week and a half to finish that, so I'm sure Rebecca and I will find a way to pull it off.
I'm going to go home this weekend to work because all of the girls at the store I work in refused to work because prom is this weekend. It will be nice to have a little bit of money to start the summer off with, so im not too opposed to the idea. Besides that, Joe agreed to take me out for drinks on Saturday after work (because he is grateful that he won't have to work all alone) and let me off a little early on Sunday so I can get back up to SB, AND the girls owe me now seeing as how they get the whole weekend off to enjoy prom! (Yes that means you Melissa! And Kaitlin too!) By the way, I have to mention that I'm very excited that Melissa will be joining me here at UCSB next year! It's going to ba a ton of fun... ya know... corrupting a new Freshamn and stuff... ! Thats about all of the exciting info for now, so I'm going to get to dinner!
| Midterms are finally over!!! I am very happy about this. The past week and a half or so have been pretty much completly consumed by studying and the other necessary preparation for them. It just feels so darn good to be finished for a little while! And knowing that is about all my fried brain can handle right now! | | |
| Last weekend was really nice. I left SB on Thursday and went down to Trevor's. Friday was full of running random but necessary errands including stopping at home for a bit. Saturday was Trevor's 21st birthday. We started that off with a candle-lit champagne toast at midnight. Later a group of us went The Olive Garden for dinner, and then to The Vault for some really yummy martinis. I'm really glad I got to be there with him for that. On Sunday I got to see Brandi, who is one of my best friends from high school. She is now stationed in South Carolina with the Air Force. I haven't gotten to see her since last summer, so I'm really glad that things worked out and we were actually able to work out getting together. We went for a late breakfast in Lake Arrowhead and then hung around the Village for a while. I got back up here late Monday night... just in time for my week to start. It was nice to get away from school for the weekend, and even nicer because I got to spend a majority of the time with my boyfriend (who I am currently missing very much)!
Other that that, I had my first midterm today. It went alright, I just had a little problem with the time constraint, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see how that turns out. On the bright side, it's one midterm down and there is no point in worrying about it anymore. On the other hand, I have three more midterms looming in the not so far off distance of next week. Two are on Tuesday and the last one is on Thursday. It looks like its going to be a fun filled weekend of studying my butt off. I'm still optimistic toward the idea of finding a little time to relax in the midst of it all though, or else I fear my sanity may be lost forever, if it already isn't. It will be very nice once next Thursday rolls around because after that, with the exception of one annoying 10-15 page paper, it will just be the normal class work until finals, which will be over on June 10th at approximately 7pm... a time I am already eagerly anticipating.
In other news, I found out that a really good friend of mine decided to come out to his mom this past weekend. She took it really well, so I'm very happy for him... Congratulations!
Good luck with midterms everyone... just think, summer is only about six weeks away!
